In the four years of the course, the first two years covered a wide range of theory and practical applications relevant to Industry. These areas have been listed in the accompanying CV. The third year was an industrial placement year where I was successful in securing a sixteen month position at TVR Engineering Ltd, in the Design Department. Part of my responsibility outside those listed on the CV, included the most recent facelift of the TVR CHIMAERA which included the new style headlights that incorporate the covers all as one unit. I was instrumental in the design of the roof catch cover, currently used on the TVR TUSCAN. This was designed to fit 3 different generations of roof for the car. Another item I was responsible for was the design of the boot spoiler found on the TAMORA. I was also involved in numerous other projects including Interior and Exterior work, Tool Making for components in preparation for Manufacture and the building of Prototype Concept Cars. The time spent at TVR provided extensive knowledge in working in Industry, and as an active member of a design team. My year out at TVR was the culmination of several years where I had spent my summer vacations working there since age 14. In my final year at University, I was involved in the designing of a full scale pre- production prototype now known as the TONIQ- R. based on my knowledge gained at TVR, I led the team through the building and styling of the project and through to the finished stages of paint. This was a real challenge in putting my experience into practise, working with designers of the future. The team worked coherently with each other throughout, making it a great success. This final year project has demonstrated that I am capable of working as part of a multi-discipline team. I am confident I could fit in to any design department with my easy going nature, willingness to learn and overall passion for any job in hand. In the future I would like to work for a multi-national company that works in higher production volumes, to that which I am used to.
